PHONETIC THINGS

Good Evening everybody!!! Teacher I have one doubt about phonetic simbols, I am in a phonetic club and the teacher told me that when you represent just a simbol you have to do it between brackets like this [r]; and you have to use the slash just for represent a complete word or dialogue like this /..../, something like this... I hope your answer...
